Protective supports Amigos For Kids at 2024 Miami Open

At Protective, we’re committed to protecting the futures of the families and communities we serve. We were excited to live out this mission by collaborating with the Miami Open presented by Itaú to support Amigos For Kids as part of our debut sponsorship.

About Amigos For Kids

Amigos For Kids is a Miami-based nonprofit organization founded in 1991 with a mission to prevent child abuse and neglect by valuing children, strengthening families and educating communities. To move its mission forward, Amigos For Kids provides awareness and advocacy programs as well as after school care, tutoring, school supplies and parenting programs. Amigos For Kids raises awareness of their mission through public service campaigns and high-profile fundraising events, such as Amigos Night and The Blue Backpack Project.

Protective supports Amigos For Kids

Through our partnership with Amigos For Kids, the kids were introduced to tennis at a clinic run by First Serve as part of the Miami Open Unites program on March 18. During the clinic, kids practiced with world-class players like Sophia Kenin, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Madison Keys. More importantly, these players and former world No. 4 tennis player and Tournament Director James Blake shared their advice on how to pursue their dreams in life no matter their background.

At Kids Day on March 30, Amigos For Kids participated in a second tennis clinic run by IMG Academy pros. But that was just the start of the day. Along with this tennis clinic, the kids had an opportunity to meet Miami Dolphins player David Long, who led the group in stretching exercises and shared his inspirational story.

The kids then painted with local artists Surge and Carlos Solano, with the final painting donated to Amigos For Kids. The group also toured Hard Rock Stadium, which contains the only tennis court built inside an NFL stadium. Before the day concluded, they were featured on the jumbotron inside the stadium.

Making an impact

During the tournament, Protective made a donation for every player introduced on center court. By the end of the tournament, we donated $10,000 and the Miami Open matched $2,500 for a total of $12,500 to support Amigos For Kids.

Committed to making a difference

"We have a very hands-on approach to our sponsorships and always look to involve ourselves in the community to make a difference and protect the future of the communities we serve. Amigos For Kids is an amazing program, and we will look to invest both funds and our staff’s time to ensure we make a difference in lives of the community through our sponsorship of the Miami Open,” said Wade Harrison, EVP, Chief Retail Officer for Protective.
