Children's of Alabama

Children’s of Alabama (Children’s) has played a vital part in allowing Alabama children to live happy, healthy lives for more than a century. Children’s is the only health system in Alabama dedicated solely to the care and treatment of children and was once named by a newspaper as, "The Place Where Miracles Happen."

The mission of Children’s of Alabama is to provide the finest pediatric health services to all children in an environment that fosters excellence in research and medical education. Children’s will be an advocate for all children and work to educate the public about issues affecting children's health and well-being. Children’s of Alabama is nationally recognized as a comprehensive regional and national pediatric healthcare center providing one class of excellent patient care through innovative and proven clinical care, education and research.

A private, not-for-profit medical center, Children’s serves patients from every county in Alabama and nearly every state. Encompassing more than 3.5 million square feet, Children’s offers inpatient and outpatient services at its Russell Campus on Birmingham’s historic Southside. Children’s flagship building, The Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children,  is Alabama's first and only LEED-certified healthcare facility. Additional specialty services at Children’s South Pediatric Outpatient Center, Children’s on 3rd and in Huntsville and Montgomery. Pediatric primary medical care is provided in more than a dozen communities across central Alabama.

Children’s is one of the 10 busiest pediatric hospitals in the United States and is a world-class cancer center, providing treatment for more than 90% of all children diagnosed with cancer and blood disorders in Alabama. Many Children’s subspecialties are consistently ranked in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals edition.
