At Protective, we’re dedicated to strengthening our local communities and giving back whenever possible — and there’s no better time to act on this mission than the holiday season. We were delighted to spread holiday cheer and goodwill through our first Gifts for Good Holiday Market held at Protective Stadium on Dec. 14.
The event helped bring our Birmingham community together by providing free booths to local nonprofits and free admission to the public. Twenty nonprofits set up shop in the Stadium Club and showcased pottery, stationery, baked goods, apparel, home decor, memberships and more. The Protective Life Foundation currently supports all nonprofits that participated in the holiday market.
Participating nonprofits included:
- Birmingham AIDS Outreach
- Birmingham Civil Rights Institute
- Birmingham Museum of Art
- Birmingham Zoo
- Boy Scouts of America
- Community on the Rise
- Cornerstone Schools
- FLY V
- Glenwood Pecans for Autism
- Hand in Paw
- Jones Valley Teaching Farm
- Lovelady Center
- PreSchool Partners
- Prodigal Pottery
- Rainbow Omega
- Red Mountain Theatre
- Spring Valley School
- United Ability
- Vulcan Park and Museum
- Workshops Empowerment Inc.
Attendees had the opportunity to support local nonprofits by shopping for unique holiday gifts, purchasing holiday treats and drinks and engaging in festive activities, including a gift-wrapping station and photobooth. Local organizations, including Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra, Children's Theater and Exceptional Foundation carolers provided holiday-themed entertainment during the event. A Salvation Army Bell Ringer was also stationed at the event.
“Birmingham is filled with many great nonprofits that embody the protector spirit by providing meaningful services that create an even better Birmingham. The Gifts for Good holiday market was a great way to bring our community together to learn about their services while supporting their missions,” stated David Loper, Executive Director of the Protective Life Foundation.
We were honored to provide the Birmingham community with a chance to support each other during the season of giving. We’re thankful to the nonprofits, organizations and individuals who made this year’s holiday market a success. Explore more ways Protective is working to strengthen our communities.
